Frequently asked questions
Common signs include mouth breathing, tongue thrust, difficulty swallowing, thumb or finger sucking, TMJ pain, or other oral-facial issues. We provide an initial assessment to determine if therapy is right for you.
The initial visit is a thorough assessment that includes photos, measurements, records, and a personalized treatment plan. For pediatric sessions, we also observe swallowing patterns, and for adults, we assess oral posture and jaw function.
Follow-up sessions can be done in person or conveniently over Zoom, depending on your preference and needs.
Myofunctional therapy focuses on retraining the muscles of the face, tongue, lips, and jaw to improve breathing, swallowing, chewing, and oral posture. It benefits both children and adults with a variety of oral-facial concerns.
No referral is necessary. However, if your child or you have existing medical or dental conditions, it’s helpful to share that information during your assessment.
Coverage varies depending on your provider and plan. We recommend checking with your insurance company to see if myofunctional therapy services are included.
Results vary based on age, habits, and consistency with exercises. Some clients notice improvements within a few weeks, while others may take several months for lasting changes.
